The beginning of last season looked like the birth of a new star at the University of Kentucky.
Terrence Jones had taken over the college basketball world with his dominant inside play and his aggressiveness was addictive to his teammates.
Then he overslept at North Carolina and hit a lull.
Terrence had a rough couple of games and then found his role as the guy doing the dirty work.
He rebounded, blocked shots, and played tough front court defense and played a huge supporting role on a final four team.
Jones surprised most everyone by not declaring for the NBA draft, wanting to come back and improve his game and draft stock and hopefully have a chance at winning a national championship.
As the season grew near, Coach Cal was bragging on how much Jones had grown up and matured and was trying to be more of a leader in practice. He also spoke of his physique which showed how much he had worked in the weight room in the off-season.
The season started well for Jones as he averaged 15 ppg and 6.6 boards in the first 9 games.
Then Indiana happened.
Then the pinky happened.
Terrence hasn’t been Terrence since.
Jones has dipped to 10ppg in his last 9 games but has kept up the rebounding at 6.4.
Am I the only that thinks Terrence needs a little positive reinforcement to get back on track?
I also don’t think that I am the only one that knows Kentucky needs Terrence Jones to win a national championship.
The talent is there and it looks like Terrence might need a little push from his people.
That means you BBN.
TJ’s twitter account is @TerrenceJones1 and I am pretty sure he checks that thing pretty regularly.
If you have twitter, and you want to give Terrence a little pick me up, send him a tweet this evening or in the morning.
I have a feeling the Cats will need everyone on their game to win in Baton Rouge.
And I know for a fact, if Terrence doesn’t get back on track, the chances of New Orleans being Blue Orleans in April drop dramatically.
