As if the Sports Illustrated article on UCLA was not enough for a very interesting day out West, things only got more interesting Wednesday night.
CBSSports.com also released a very informative article regarding the eligibility of the nation’s No. 1 recruit, Shabazz Muhammad.
According to the article, the NCAA has informed the schools involved in Muhammad (Kentucky, UCLA, Duke, UNLV, Arizona, and Kansas) of “financial dealings that could compromise Muhammad’s amateur status.”
Muhammad’s camp has been financially assisted by Benjamin Lincoln in regards to paying for unofficial visits; Ken Kavanagh has also donated money to Dream Vision, Muhammad’s AAU squad.
Muhammad’s father, Ron Holmes, confirmed these circumstances to CBS.
When Holmes “filled out the NCAA compliance forms he fully disclosed that the family friend, Benjamin Lincoln, had paid for the trips.”
It is worth being noted that Muhammad visited Kentucky unofficially last year for senior night against Vanderbilt.
“We do not think we’ve done anything wrong,” Ron Holmes said. “But if we have, we’ll deal with it.
