While it was all overlooked after Kentucky’s opening-game win over Western Kentucky, the Cats passed a couple of milestones.
En route to having his 22 points, Terrence Jones surpassed the 1,000-point mark, joining several Kentucky greats. People will acknowledge that the sophomore has had quite a lackluster campaign this year, but nevertheless, he continues to go in the history books.
Jones is also in the UK record books for a few other things, but this will go right up there with the most points scored in a game as freshman, as he had 35 against Auburn in January of last year.
Jones has also helped Kentucky nab several wins during his tenure.
Speaking of winning games, has anyone ever heard of a coach passing the 500-win mark—twice?
Kentucky (and Memphis) fans will disregard tonight’s milestone for John Calipari as he “officially” won his 500th game, but Cal has to be the first coach to pass that mark twice.
You never know, Calipari could pass it a third time if his idea that Kentucky and other collegiate universities will branch off from the NCAA in the future.
Either way, show some love to TJ and Calipari. Great marks on history for these two.
