Heading into the summer, many recruits will be looking to make statements to other players, scouts, and most importantly, coaches.
Of these, Malik Price-Martin of Monsignor Edward Pace (Fla.) may have the most to gain. While he has many offers from premiere colleges thus far, many consider the combo-forward to be an under-the-radar guy in his class.
Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville, UConn, NC State, Florida, Syracuse, Texas, and Georgia Southern have all extended offers to Price-Martin so far. Some of these offers came from a productive high school season.
“My season went alright,” he said disappointed. “We lost in the state semi-finals, but I averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds throughout the year.”
Now, the 6-foot-8 star is focusing his sights on AAU season. Last year, Price-Martin ran with the Florida Rams (which features Chris Walker and Kasey Hill), but he will be changing to an new organization this year.
“I’m playing AAU with Team Breakdown. I want to improve my ball-handling and shooting some more.”
A successful AAU season last year landed the Florida native a Kentucky offer, and Malik thinks he could thrive within John Calipari’s parameters.
“I think I would fit in pretty good with his system. I’m tall, but I have enough handles to take my man off the dribble. I could be good in the dribble-drive system.”
He also added this:
“I really like the way Kentucky plays. They always have a good team with freshmen, so it is nice.”
Louisville has also expressed a lot of interest in Price-Martin, and because of that, the Cards are in a select group of teams.
“I don’t have any favorites, but I will say Louisville, Florida State, and Miami are recruiting me the hardest right now.”
The junior also plans to visit Florida State in the near future.
