As expected, Anthony Davis has made the 18-man talent pool for the US Olympic basketball team, which will play in London at the summer games. The final 12-man roster will be announced by July 7.
Davis averaged 14.3 points, 10 rebounds, and 4.7 blocks per game for Kentucky’s national champion college team, and is expected to be the number one pick in the upcoming NBA draft. Also named to the larger pool today was James Harden of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Injuries to several NBA players have caused some gaping holes in the expected lineup. Some observers have written that Davis’ primary contribution to Team USA would be adding defensive heft.
