John Calipari spoke at the SEC Spring Meetings today in Destin, Florida, and as usual blew it up with an idea that only Cal could come up with.
He wants to not only play a doubleheader with the women’s team, but a possible tripleheader with the football team.
Calipari would like the women’s and the men’s basketball team to play on a Friday, and the football team play the same school on Saturday, in the same football stadium.
Looking at the last year’s schedules for each team, Cal’s team played their first regular season game on November 11th. The Women’s team played their first game also on November 11th. The football team played their last game on November 24th.
So, it is conceivable that they could all three play on the same weekend. Joker’s team played Samford the next to last week of the season, so they could work in a non-conference opponent around the end of the season.
Which leads to the possible match-ups.
Since the recent struggles of the football team, one would think it would be a nonconference opponent that would be a win for the guys on Saturday.
Also, with the perceived availability of Lucas Oil Field, all three could play a Miami Ohio, Ohio University, Purdue University, or a monumental match-up with Notre Dame.
Ok, the last one was dreaming a little bit, but wouldn’t that be great?
