Rajon Rondo has matured into one of the best point guards in the NBA. While he isn’t a Calipari point guard product, many often connect the two together. Even Tyler Dorsey, who is going to be a sophomore this upcoming school year.
Dorsey is one of the premiere young players on the West Coast, and he already has several schools showing early interest.
“I currently have offers from Arizona, USC, and Oregon State,” he began. “Arizona has been looking at me since I was in the 8th grade, so that sticks out.”
He has also received questionnaires from UCLA, Washington, Stanford, and the rest of the Pac-12, along with Louisville, North Carolina, and Illinois, among others.
However, the talented guard wants to hear from more schools, but mainly one: Kentucky
“I’m very interested in Kentucky. I like their point guard history. Coach [John] Calipari has done a great job with one-and-done point guards. It’s impressive.”
Dorsey also noted that UK’s National Championship means a lot, too. Like this Kentucky team, he wants to team-up with talented players of his own age, vying for a championship run.
The 6-foot-3 point guard has modeled his game after Rondo for quite some time now, but not for dazzling passes or the drastic improvement on his jump-shot.
“Rondo is a triple-double guy, and I feel like I am a triple-double guy. I can score, pass, rebound, do whatever my teammates need for us to win,” he explained.
However, Dorsey is still rather new to the point guard position, as he is transitioning from being a wing.
“I’m still looking to work on my point guard skills. I know I need to get better.”
It should be interesting to see what transpires with Dorsey, as the Kentucky staff is also very high on another 2015 prospect that is capable of being a point guard in Mickey Mitchell.
