Now that Pete Thamel has added another Nerlens Noel article to the internet, one has to wonder if this is just a Calipari/Kentucky witch hunt or is their actual relevance to the investigation?
A lot of media members have been weighing in on the investigation and we will begin with Gary Parrish of CBS Sports viewpoint:

The NCAA is looking at this recruitment from every angle, and it’s not because the NCAA hates Kentucky and John Calipari (though I’m certain Kentucky fans and Calipari himself would disagree). The truth is that there have long been red flags surrounding Noel, and this probably would’ve happened even if he signed with Georgetown, Syracuse or anybody else. Either way, it’s happening now. So Kentucky fans will be forced to spend the next few days or weeks or months just like UCLA fans will spend the next few days or weeks or months, i.e., wondering if their star recruit will be available when the season tips in November.

Several media types, including Dick Vitale and Jay Bilas have taken to twitter to voice their opinion:
Let’s face it if Noel signed anywhere but with
@ukcoachcalipari this recent inquiry would NEVER take place.#FACTcbssports.com/collegebasketb…— Dick Vitale (@DickieV) August 22, 2012
@kamharper@mengus22 Not singled out in this particular case. Overall, UK and Cal very closely scrutinized by NCAA, in my judgment.— Jay Bilas (@JayBilas) August 22, 2012
I guess all we can do is wait and see what happens, but you have to appreciate some of the media going to bat for Cal and Kentucky.
