Roy Williams’ Advice to Julius Randle Led to Cutting List

I think it is very ironic that North Carolina was cut from Julius Randle’s list after Tarheels’ coach Roy Williams was the one that gave the top recruit the idea.

Three weeks ago during his in-home visits, Julius Randle received what he called “some of the best advice” he’s gotten since his recruiting process started.

North Carolina coach Roy Williams told Randle, a forward at Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas), “to be upfront with the schools” that he’s not considering as strongly “so they can move on.”

As you already know, Randle cut his list to six which includes Kentucky, NC State, Florida, Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

Jason Jordan of USA Today also spoke to Julius Randle’s mother about how the list was leaked and it doesn’t sound like they were too thrilled about it being released.

“This isn’t the way that Julius wanted to put the list out,” Randle’s mother Carolyn Kyles said. “He wanted to do it himself, but this is his new list. It’s true.”

Kentucky is still in the mix and I think you could expect them to be there all the way to the end.
