Some of the reasons they hate us are valid. We do tend to be a little arrogant about our Wildcats, but I find the same to be true about Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, etc.
They also hate us because we are in the hunt almost every year and they get tired of the same schools over and over.
However, we have reason to be a little arrogant…look at all the championship banners in Rupp. When people start talking basketball with Kentucky fans, we are very knowledgeable about basketball, but what makes them hate us so much is that so many of us think UK ought to win it every year. So many of us love the Cats when they are doing well and do nothing but gripe at the team and the coaches when things aren’t going well. Kentucky fans are a tough crowd and people get aggravated at us over it.
Of course, I love to see the team win. I am realistic enough to realize that they aren’t going to win the National Championship every year and I am not going to trash the team and the coaches if they don’t.
But I am going to have to say that they hate us because they are not us. Kentucky does win more than most teams. They are jealous, of course, and they decide we are a crooked school…sour grapes.
