Dickie V is staying pretty active in the blogosphere this year, with his weekly awards and whatnot.
This week finds Mr. V looking very favorably on the CATS as he says the following about Davis and Gilchrist:Kentucky has one of the best freshmen tandems of the last decade in Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Look at the way they dominated against a very good Louisville team.
In the last decade, easy…I would argue that the two of them represent the most talented combo in the history of college ball.
Vitale really got bold with what he said next, though:I really believe the ‘Cats will go unbeaten at Rupp this season, they are just so tough at home. John Calipari has not lost at home there since taking over the program.
Kentucky hosts Florida and Vandy this year, so the record will be tested, but not broken.
He goes on to name Darius Miller before anyone else on his ‘All Rolaid Team’ which, contrary to how it sounds, is actually a positive recognition. He says that Miller, has experience and has accepted his role on John Calipari’s squad.
…Deep.
As simplistic as that statement sounds though, it does recognize two of the biggest components to what Miller represents to this team. And to put him in the same sentence as guys like Reggie Bullock, Ryan Boatright, and Michael Dixon is a statment, considering guys like Dixon have put up 30 points on occasion. That is not something that would happen for a role player on a team like Kentucky this year, yet Miller provides anchor to the young team that is nearly as valuable.
