After Tuesday’s playoff game against the Hawks, Rajon Rondo showed once again why this has been a tough year for his public perception.
In the waning seconds of the game, Rondo stole Josh Smith’s inbound pass and raced down the floor. However, Al Horford was waiting for him and trapped him on the baseline. Horford’s defensive pressure caused Rondo to bobble the ball, and tried a desperation pass that was easily deflected by Smith as time expired. It was certainly a frustrating end to a hotly contested ball game.
The real drama, however, came after the game. While waiting with family members in the corridor, waiting for the press conference to begin, a TNT cameraman got a few shots of Rondo. You can see Rondo’s reaction here.
For a guy who recently chest bumped one official and drilled another with a basketball, this is a terrible PR move. Rondo is going to have to do better at keeping his temper in check, or else he’ll start developing a reputation as a malcontent. I know the guy was frustrated after a tough loss, but the TNT camera man was just doing his job. You can’t act that way, especially when the cameras are on.
Also, I agree with Sir Charles on this one. What was he thinking with that jacket?
