Murphy, Guy Named Game Captains for Saturday

University of Kentucky senior offensive lineman Billy Joe Murphy and senior safety/linebacker Winston Guy have been named game captains for Kentucky’s non-conference battle with Jacksonville State on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium at Noon ET.

Game captains are usually chosen on the basis of performance in the previous game. Murphy has played well for Kentucky so far this season. The native of Gamaliel, Ky., was the game captain and started for Kentucky against Western Kentucky and has started four games this season. For his career, Murphy has played in 37 games, making 13 starts.

Guy has been a force on the defensive side of the football for Kentucky, ranking second in the Southeastern Conference and tied for eighth in the nation with 11.17 tackles per game. The native of Lexington, Ky., has five double-figure tackle games this season, including a season-high 14 stops against South Carolina. This is the third time this season he has been the game captain for the Wildcats.

Murphy and Guy will join permanent game captains Danny Trevathan and Stuart Hines at the pregame coin toss.
