Re: Petrino????????

Personally, as a Tennessee football fan, I want Bobby Petrino in as our head coach. Derek Dooley is about a year away from losing his job as Vols head coach because of his inability to recruit enough quality players to, in turn, produce winning seasons. I don’t think that Petrino would be interested in Kentucky simply because, and I hate to say this because this will come across as an jab at the school’s football program, he will have a hard time recruiting players from within the Ohio Valley. Ohio State dominates that region, plus you have Louisville to contend with for instate recruits, Cincinnati some two hours north of Lexington, Purdue and Indiana in the state of Indiana, and West Virginia to the east. Of those teams, I would be less afraid of Purdue and Indiana, but I would be afraid to compete with Ohio State and West Virginia, the latter of which won the Big East Conference last season, while Urban Meyer is quickly rebuilding the Ohio State football program. And you can forget the teams immediately to the south of Kentucky in Vanderbilt and Tennessee, who each have brought in top twenty-five recruiting classes. I just don’t see Kentucky as a good fit for Petrino, but I could be wrong there because he took a Louisville football team and turned it into a perennial top ten program for about a four or five year period last decade.
