Anthony Davis had an unbelievable summer winning a gold medal playing for the United States Olympic Team and gained a wealth of knowledge playing with the best players in the world.
Davis is taking any of that for granted and knows he still has a long way to go, especially since he has never played a minute in a NBA game yet.
One key element in playing in the NBA, which consists of grown men, is getting stronger and Davis acknowledged that in a presser with the New Orleans media recently.
The one thing Davis said he learned most about his impending journey from his summer Olympic experience, and his brief foray in San Antonio, is he has to bulk up.
“Got to get stronger,” he said. “It’s a physical game. Very physical. I guess we’ve got to stay in the weight room.”
The Hornets open training camp Tuesday, following Monday’s media day gathering. The regular season begins Oct. 31 at home against the Spurs and the first exhibition game is Oct. 7 in Mexico City against the Orlando Magic.
“We’re rebuilding this year; it’s going to be a tough year for us,” said Davis. “But it will be fun.”
You have to love that Anthony Davis realizes his weaknesses and you know he will be working hard to be a complete NBA player.
At least he better be, since it is a job now.
