Kentucky Suffers Worst Loss Since 1990 in Nashville

Gonzaga absolutely dismantled Kentucky 94-59 in Nashville Friday night.

The outcome was Kentucky’s worst loss as a program since 1990.

Every player on the UK roster was -9 or worse on the +/- totals after the game with three players, including preseason All-American Otega Oweh, being -25 or lower.

Entering the game shooting 76.8 percent at the foul line, Kentucky had another solid night at the charity stripe, making 20 of 26 for 76.9 percent.
Kentucky claimed 12 offensive rebounds and won second-chance points, 15-10.

Player Notes

Otega Oweh led UK with 16 points (tied season high), five rebounds (tied season high) and a season-high five assists.
It’s his third straight game with a season-best 16 points and he has scored in double figures in all nine games this season.
He also had two steals, his fourth straight game with multiple thefts.
He made 9 of 10 free throws, most foul shots made by a Wildcat this season.
Collin Chandler had 11 points, the eighth time in nine games in double figures.
Denzel Aberdeen had eight points, ending his career-best streak of eight games in double figures.
After a five-game absence because of a shoulder injury, Jaland Lowe returned and played 14 minutes.
Mo Dioubate (fourth game) and Jayden Quaintance (season) missed the game because of injury.

In the First Half

Kentucky started Denzel Aberdeen, Otega Oweh, Collin Chandler, Kam Williams and Malachi Moreno for the fourth consecutive game.
UK’s first subs were Jaland Lowe, Andrija Jelavic and Brandon Garrison at 15:38.
Gonzaga scored the first seven points before Oweh got UK’s first point with a foul shot with 15:38 on the clock.
Ahead 9-2, Gonzaga added a 10-0 run.
Kentucky got its first basket when Aberdeen made a 3-pointer with 11:03 remaining.
Gonzaga got the largest lead of the half at 41-16 and 43-18.
Gonzaga went to halftime ahead 43-20. Aberdeen led UK with six points.

In the Second Half

Kentucky began the second half with Aberdeen, Oweh, Chandler, Williams and Garrison.
Gonzaga stretched the lead to as many as 37 points at 94-57.
