Kentucky’s Kassie O’Brien won her fifth Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week Award on Monday.
O’Brien set a new career high with 54 assists against Oklahoma on Friday night and added 35 more on Sunday vs. Arkansas.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Volleyball setter Kassie O’Brien won her fifth Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week award Monday afternoon, as she put the finishing touches on one of the most impressive freshman regular season’s to date in UK Volleyball history this weekend that culminated in an SEC title.
O’Brien ran the Kentucky offense to the tune of a .302 hitting percentage over eight sets this week, all while setting a new career high in a 54-assist performance against Oklahoma on Friday night in a win over the Sooners. O’Brien then put together a 35-assist afternoon Sunday vs. Arkansas to average 11.13 assists per set and made her presence known at the net with nine blocks on the two match days with four Friday night and five Sunday, including a solo stuff.
O’Brien logged her seventh double-double Friday night vs. Oklahoma with 13 digs tacked on to her 54 assists. Her 13 digs were just two off of her career high for that category.
Kentucky is the No. 1 seed at the 2025 Allstate SEC Volleyball Tournament and will begin play Sunday at Noon ET in the quarterfinal round on SEC Network against either (8) Auburn, (9) Oklahoma or (16) Arkansas at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia. Kevin Barnett, Missy Whittemore and Leah Edmond will have the call for SECN.
