The NFL introduced a new virtual virtual measurement system for first downs earlier this week.
The new system allows the league “to accurately and efficiently measure the distance between the spotted ball and the line to gain.”
The NFL isn’t completely doing away with the chain gang (we think), but this is one step away from potential human error:
