Athlon Sports is projecting a rough season for Kentucky football.
In Athlon’s SEC projections for 2025, the Wildcats are picked to finish 15th out of 16 teams. The only team behind Kentucky is Mississippi State.
Athlon picks Texas and Georgia to top the league’s standings, followed by LSU and Alabama.

15. Kentucky Wildcats
Fans will get to see just how motivated Mark Stoops was this offseason when the Wildcats take the field to begin the season. After winning just four games last year and losing much of what little production it had offensively this offseason, 2025 could be a long season for the Wildcats.
Kentucky snapped its eight-year bowl streak in 2024 — a program record. Three years removed from a 10-win season, it’s interesting to see the Wildcats finish in the final SEC standings.
