Buzz Williams is headed to Maryland

Buzz Williams is leaving Texas A&M to take the head coaching job at Maryland.

Maryland opened up a few days ago when Kevin Willard went to Villanova.

Williams was 23-11 at A&M this season. The Aggies lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

In 18 seasons as a head coach, Williams has a 373–228 (.621) record. He has been the head man at New Orleans, Marquette, Virginia Tech and Texas A&M.

“It is an honor and privilege to be named the head coach of the University of Maryland men’s basketball team,” Williams said in an introductory press release. “I want to thank President Pines and Colleen Sorem for this opportunity to lead one of the most prestigious programs in the country. In leading this program, I promise to uphold the history of Maryland basketball and make Terp Nation proud with the men who represent this institution.”
