Beloved junior guard Cassidy Rowe announced on Saturday that she is leaving the University of Kentucky women’s basketball program ahead of her senior season.
“Wow…I wasn’t expecting this to be a goodbye post,” Rowe announced on Instagram. “I wanted nothing more than to play my senior year in a Kentucky uniform, but I know that God has bigger and better plans for me. Sometimes ‘no’ is God’s way of preventing us from greater heartbreak.”
There are multiple reports online that the Kentucky staff asked Rowe to transfer. Rather than transfer, she chose to step away from basketball.
To provide clarification on the Cassidy Rowe situation based on what I've gathered…
– Cassidy was asked to transfer
– Cassidy bleeds blue and would never be anything other than a Wildcat
– And that's why she won't be playing basketball next season. It’s a tough business.

Just count me as one who will never understand @Crowe_523 having her scholarship pulled when there are now 7 open scholarship spots for next season on the team. No one loved the Cats , played harder or supported teammates better than her.@victoriagraff Photo pic.twitter.com/E1Cy45o5sa

I have confirmed with a good source that this was a program decision and not a player decision.
