Xavier has hired New Mexico head coach Richard Pitino to replace Sean Miller.
Miller resigned over the weekend to take the Texas job.
Pitino led the Lobos to a 27-8 record this season. New Mexico lost to Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament over the weekend. He was 88–49 (.642) in four seasons at New Mexico.
Overall, Pitino is 247–186 (.570) in his coaching career at FIU, Minnesota and New Mexico.
