Kentucky has locked up a No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region. The Wildcats (22-11) will battle No. 14 Troy in the first round. The winner will face the winner of No. 6 Illinois and No. 11 Texas/Xavier in the second round.
The biggest surprise of the evening was likely Louisville getting a No. 8 seed. The Cardinals will get to play close to home in Rupp Arena, but the competition will be stiff vs. No. 9 Creighton and almost certainly top overall No. 1 seed Auburn.
The other major surprise was North Carolina getting into the field despite being 1-12 against Quad 1 competition.
The SEC got 14 teams into the field.
