Za’Darius Smith, Mike Edwards land on new NFL teams

A pair of former Kentucky football stars are on the move in the NFL.

As expected, veteran defensive end Za’Darius Smith has been traded to the Detroit Lions, where he will be able to compete for championships.

The Lions received Smith and a 2026 seventh-round draft pick, while the Cleveland Browns landed a 2025 fifth-rounder and a 2026 sixth-rounder in the trade.

Another veteran, safety Mike Edwards, was granted a release by the Bills earlier this week. He is reportedly headed to Nashville to sign with the Tennessee Titans.
