Rajon Rondo pleads guilty to gun charge, avoids jail time

Rajon Rondo appeared in court Tuesday morning to plead guilty to a gun charge from January.

Rondo appeared in the Jackson County, Indiana, courthouse for a change of plea hearing on charges of marijuana possession, paraphernalia possession and unlawful carrying of a handgun.

As a result of the change of plea, the former Kentucky men’s basketball and NBA star avoided jail time.

Here is an excerpt:

He initially entered a plea of not guilty after being arrested on Jan. 28 but changed to a guilty plea Tuesday on the handgun charge.

The two marijuana charges were dismissed as part of the plea deal.

Rondo was found guilty of unlawful carrying of a handgun. He was sentenced to pay $189 in court costs and serve six months in the Jackson County Jail.

Rondo left the courthouse free, however, as he was credited for two days of time served and put on probation for the duration of the six months of jail time.
