Forrest Tucker of WTVQ caught up with former Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith at a Pro Am golf event in Nicholasville earlier this week.
Smith admitted that his golf game isn’t great, but said it’s fun to get out on the course and get back to Kentucky.
The former UK coach also said his love for Kentucky basketball hasn’t faded and he’s looking forward to checking out Mark Pope’s Wildcats.
Here is an excerpt:
As for Tubby’s love for Kentucky men’s hoops; it hasn’t faded. Smith says that he wants to come back to Lexington and watch a practice in the Joe Craft Center where he knows the new head coach is building something great.
“His team have always been good shooting teams so we’ll see them put up a lot of threes. I wish they kept someone like a Reed Sheppard,” said Smith. “That’s what Mark Pope’s team does. Offensively minded, very aggressive and they play great defense. He’s just an outstanding coach.”
