The Oakland Golden Grizzlies stunned heavily-favored Kentucky 80-76 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament tonight in Pittsburgh.
Jack Gohlke came off the bench to nail 10 three-pointers on the way to a game-high 32 points for Oakland (24-11). Trey Townsend added 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Horizon League Champions.
Antonio Reeves finished his career with a 27-point performance for Kentucky (23-10), which was favored by 13.5 points. Tre Mitchell added 14 points and 13 boards. Justin Edwards and Rob Dillingham each scored 10 points.
The Golden Grizzlies will play the winner of Texas Tech and North Carolina State on Saturday.
For Kentucky, the program heads into a summer of uncertainty following yet another baffling early exit from the NCAA Tournament.
