The NBA announced today that Miami HEAT center/forward Bam Adebayo was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, January 8 through Sunday, January 14. For Adebayo, it marks his second career Player of the Week award and is the 61st time in franchise history a member of the HEAT has earned the honor.

Adebayo helped lead Miami to a 3-1 record for the week after averaging 23.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.00 blocks while shooting 56.5 percent from the field. He posted a double-double in each game and has currently recorded at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in five-straight games, tying the longest such streak of his career. He is also just the third HEAT player to have a 20-point, 10-rebound streak of at least five games, joining Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James, and is the only player to do so multiple times, having also accomplished the feat earlier this season. He led the team in rebounds all four games, assists three times and in points, blocks, minutes and plus/minus twice each.

Adebayo led off the week with a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double vs. Houston on January 8, recording his 100th assist of the season in the game. That marks his seventh-straight season with at least 100 assists, the second-longest such streak in HEAT history, only Dwyane Wade has a longer streak at 14 consecutive seasons. On January 10 vs. Oklahoma City, he posted a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double while dishing out a team-high six assists. He followed that up with a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double, including a game-high seven assists, vs. Orlando on January 12 while also posting a game-high +17 plus/minus. In the final game of the week on January 14 vs. Charlotte, Adebayo posted a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double while again handing out a game-high seven assists. Additionally, Adebayo has now posted a team-high 20 double-doubles this season, including 169 for his career, the fourth-most in team history.
