Louisville opens season with one-point win over University of Maryland, Baltimore County

Louisville opened the season with a 94-93 win over University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Monday night.

The Cardinals (1-0) possibly had the good fortune of bad officiating, but a win is a win and it’s good to see Kenny Payne start the season with a victory.

UMBC led Louisville for much of the game, but it was this play that sealed the win for the Cards:

There was definitely a lot of contact on that game-winning basket. To be fair, a UMBC player stepped out of bounds on the other end and that was also missed by the officials.

Louisville returns to action Friday against Chattanooga. The Mocs are 1-0 after an 89-44 win over Covenant to open the season.
