Former University of Kentucky track and field star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone announced this week that she will miss the world championships due to a minor knee issue.

McLaughlin-Levrone said in a statement that she needs to take care of a minor knee issue so she can be fully healthy for the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Here is an excerpt from NBC Sports:

“After consulting with my doctors and coaches, I need to take care of a minor knee issue so that I can be fully healthy for next years’ Paris Olympics,” was posted on her social media. “I look forward to seeing everyone back on the track soon!”

McLaughlin-Levrone will not race again in 2023 and does not require surgery, said her coach, Bobby Kersee, according to the Los Angeles Times.
