Has Kentucky head coach John Calipari been asleep at the wheel this offseason? Of course not.
While it seems to many fans that Cal has been slipping a bit, particularly in the new world of NIL in college basketball, he has actually been working on something innovative.
According to several reports, Calipari is working on an NIL conglomerate (he won’t call it a collective) that will utilize money from former UK players who are now pros and other Cal acquaintances.
Hearing Calipari has modified his NIL stance slightly
Some money has been raised from some outside sources and will be used for a Collective-like entity that may not be called a Collective
A very good development in my mind

Two things I’ll never question Calipari’s ability to do:
1) Recruit top high school talent
2) Raise any amount of money he thinks he needs https://t.co/wavT4xjcLZ— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) June 13, 2023
This sounds like a big step in the right direction for Kentucky basketball, especially when it comes to recruiting and retaining players.
Jack Pilgrim of KSR is hearing that the collective that isn’t called a collective will be known as the La Familia Club or something along those lines.
Great stuff here from @JackPilgrimKSR on KSR Plus on the “La Familia Club”, the new Non-Collective Collective from UK and Caliparihttps://t.co/rahRWjWyrD
