Kentucky has #2 Frontcourt; #7 Backcourt

Sports Illustrated has ranked the top frontcourts and backcourts in the country and Kentucky is in both polls.

Here is the reasoning behind the rankings.

Kentucky
Nerlens Noel, Kyle Wiltjer, Willie Cauley-Stein, Alex Poythress
The 6-10 Noel, who arrives with a rep as a ruthless shot-blocker, could be joined by the 7-foot Cauley-Stein in a twin-towers frontcourt. Wiltjer, the lone player back from the 2011-12 title-team rotation, is a polished scorer but needs to make strides defensively.

Kentucky
Ryan Harrow, Archie Goodwin, Julius Mays, Twany Beckham, Jon Hood
Harrow is next up in John Calipari’s point guard procession; while the slender N.C. State transfer may not be a Lottery Pick, he’s still an elite college playmaker. Goodwin, a polished two-guard, could very well lead the Wildcats in scoring.

Let’s hope both live up to their rankings tonight, which is only 6 hours away from the 8:30 tip.
