The Tennessean put together a list of the most important game for each SEC football team in 2023.
According to the article, Kentucky’s most important regular season game will be September 30 against Florida.
Also, Vanderbilt’s most important game is against Kentucky on September 23.
Here’s an excerpt:
Kentucky
vs. Florida (Sept. 30)
Why it’s important: The Wildcats have beaten Florida in three of the past five seasons. They averaged nine wins in those three triumphant years. A win against the Gators is a harbinger of a good season for UK, which should be armed with the better quarterback, Devin Leary. Think about that: UK has a better quarterback than Florida.
Vanderbilt
vs. Kentucky (Sept. 23)
Why it’s important: The Commodores have a real shot to make the illustrious Birmingham Bowl, or some such thing, in Clark Lea’s third season. Doing so likely requires a win against the Wildcats. Vanderbilt’s win in Lexington last season became a great stain on UK’s season. Do it again, and maybe we should start putting Lea ahead of Stoops on those preseason coach-rankings lists. I’m kidding – for now.
