March Madness Update: The NCAA Tournament is down to Sweet 16 teams, NIT quarterfinal games are set

The NCAA Tournament is down to a final 16 teams after an insane first weekend of action.

The Sweet 16 will feature everything from blue bloods North Carolina and UCLA doing battle to Texas Tech trying to end Coach K’s career.

Amazingly, either Miami (FL) or Iowa State will be in the Elite 8.

Former Kentucky guard Johnny Juzang is back in the Sweet 16 with UCLA.

Arkansas is the only team remaining from the SEC.

Kansas will pass Kentucky in all-time wins with a victory.

Meanwhile, the postseason NIT is down to eight teams:

– Vanderbilt vs. Xavier
– St. Bonaventure vs. Virginia
– Washington State vs. BYU
– Texas A&M vs. Wake Forest

Yes, Vanderbilt is still playing while Kentucky, Tennessee and Auburn are watching from home.

Also, former Kentucky big man Mark Pope is the head coach of BYU.

The CBI Tournament semifinals are set:

– UNC Wilmington vs. Northern Colorado
– Middle Tennessee vs. Abilene Christian

The Basketball Classic still has some quarterfinal games to play

– Coastal Carolina and South Alabama have already advanced to the semifinals
– UTEP vs. Southern Utah
– Youngstown State vs. Fresno State

Coastal Carolina is coached by my man Richie Riley, who used to be an assistant coach at the University of Pikeville and Eastern Kentucky University.
