Jonathan Givony, an NBA Draft analyst at ESPN, believes John Calipari is playing an old school style of offense that is hurting Kentucky’s potential.
Givony points out how Kentucky’s big men often clog the paint, creating a “cramped” offense:

Rewatching the Kentucky loss and this play stood out. TyTy Washington turns the corner out of PNR…and runs into 4 opponents, as both non-shooting Kentucky bigs are clogging the paint. Almost no one (successful) plays this style of cramped offense anymore, anywhere in the world. pic.twitter.com/mv7tr3WeCR

Would have loved to see Kentucky go with four guards around Tshiebwe for a couple of possessions tonight to see what would happen. Saint Peter’s is such an undersized team I can’t imagine things could have looked much worse. Extra spacing could have helped quite a bit.
