Where to Watch Northwood at Kentucky

The #3 Kentucky Wildcats host the #1 team in NAIA, the Northwood Seahawks, in Rupp Arena tonight at 7pm on Fox Sports South and ESPN3.com.

The announcers for tonight’s game are Dave Baker and Larry Conley. The sideline reporter is Tom Werme.

Here is some background information on tonight’s game:

The Seahawks are coached by former Villanova head coach Rollie Massimino. This is the first time Massimino has returned to Rupp since his Wildcats won the national championship in 1985.

John Calipari’s 102 wins over the last three seasons ranks as the best total of any other coach in that span.

Northwood recently lost to Michigan State 85-57 in East Lansing. The Seahawks were only down 34-28 at halftime.

Kentucky is 47-4 all-time in exhibition games.

Northwood shot 30% (18-of-60) from the floor, including 32.1% (9-of-28) from three-point range, and 57.1% (12-of-21) from the foul line. Michigan State was 50.7% (36-of-71) from the floor, 35.3% (6-of-17) from three-point and 50% (7of-14) from the charity stripe. The Spartans outrebounded the Seahawks 52-35 during the contest, and dominated the paint, outscoring Northwood, 52-14.

Prior to UK’s two exhibition contests, the Wildcats held their annual Blue-White scrimmage at Rupp Arena on Oct. 24.
Freshman Archie Goodwin led the scoring effort with 32 points. Fellow freshmen Alex Poythress and Willie Cauley-Stein added 25 and 14 points, respectively. UK’s veterans were led by a 28-point effort from sophomore Kyle Wiltjer. Junior Jon Hood added 17 and graduate student transfer Julius Mays posted 13 first-half points.

Northwood returns eight players from a season ago. Senior guard Tyrone Davis is Northwood’s all-time leader in assists and steals, averaging nearly eight assists per game, and earning the Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Year award. Senior forward Masse Doumbe took home the Sun Conference Newcomer of the Year award, averaging 17.7 points and 6.8 rebounds a game.
