We expected Andrew Wiggins to reclassify, but it’s still very exciting news. This is the first step in what could be the most dominating freshman class in the history of collegiate basketball. Calipari’s new goal is to go 40-0 and it looks like 2013 might just be the year.

Eric Prisbell of USA Today broke the news Thursday afternoon when informed by Mitchell Wiggins — ex-NBA player, former Florida State star and father of the nation’s top prospect.
“It’s time,” the elder Wiggins told the newspaper. “It’s time for him [to show] that he is the best in college right now. I think he is ready for the next step. Academically-wise he is doing great. Maturity-wise he is doing great. He has a lot of talent. He is ready for the next step, and everybody knows it’s time. It is Andrew’s time. Next year is coming soon and he’s ready.”
The 6-foot-7 Canadian, who is from Thornhill, Ontario, and plays at Huntington (W.Va.) Prep, is the top-ranked player, whether in the Class of 2014, 2013 or even 2012. Yes, he’s that good.
He’s also the missing piece of a recruiting class that could go down as the highest-rated and most powerful in NCAA history.
John Calipari already has the Harrison twins, two guards who are each ranked somewhere in the top five overall by everyone, in addition to top-10 wing James Young and talented big man Marcus Lee — who is a consensus top-50 player. Wiggins, who will likely choose between Kentucky and Florida State — according to multiple sources — would give Calipari four of the top 10 players in the Class of 2013. Kentucky is also involved with uncommitted big men Julius Randle and Aaron Gordon — both of whom are ranked in the top five nationally.
And Wiggins is not just another #1 recruit. He’s quickly been moved to the #1 spot in the 2013 class and is said to be light years above the rest of the top five. Yes.. He’s that good (LeBron Good).
