Former Kentucky big man Daniel Orton has found a new home in Japan.
After spending last season with Toyama Grouses in Japan’s top-level level league, he is moving to Kumamoto Volters in the nation’s second-level B2 league.
In 10 games last season, he averaged 14.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Kumamoto Volters (B2 League) agreed terms with 30-year old American forward Daniel Orton (209-116kg-90, college: Kentucky). He will still stay in Japan where he played most recently at Toyama Grouses in Japanese B1 League. In 10 games he had 14.1ppg, 6.6rpg, 2.2apg, 1.3spg and 1.0bpg last season. B2 League will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. Orton also played for Koshigaya that season. In 11 B2 League games he recorded very impressive stats: 19.9ppg, 10.1rpg, 2.7apg, 1.5spg and 1.0bpg.
In 2010 he was drafted by Orkando Magic (NBA) in first round (29th overall). The former University of Kentucky standout is in his eleventh (!!!) season in pro basketball.

He is quite experienced player. Orton has played in thirteen different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in China (Hunan), Greece (Kymis), Lebanon (Champville and Mayrouba), Mexico (Fuerza Regia), Philippines (Hotshots), Puerto Rico (Leones), Taiwan (Fubon Braves), Turkey (Karesi Spor), NBA (Washington Wizards), NBA G League (Maine Red Claws and Grand Rapids Drive), Thailand (Hitech) and The Basketball Tournament (Loyalty is Love). His team was regular season runner-up in Turkish TBL.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Orton was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Thailand Basketball League 2nd Team back in 2017.
