The LA County Sheriff’s Department called out TMZ during a press conference this evening.
The spokesman implied that TMZ broke the news of Kobe Bryant’s death before his family had been notified, calling the early report “wholly inappropriate.”

ABC also made a critical error in their coverage by reporting on air that all four of Bryant’s daughters were killed in the crash:
