Kentucky’s Josh Allen likely won’t be available by the 9th pick so one would think he won’t have to worry about being the second Josh Allen on the Buffalo Bills.
But what if the Bills trade up to get him?
NJ.com speculates on the possibility:
“That’d be a little weird,” said Kentucky’s Allen, a Montclair native. “It would kind of suck because he was there first. So what are they going to call me?”
The Bills selected quarterback Josh Allen with the seventh pick in the first-round of the 2018 NFL Draft, while they could take Kentucky’s Allen, a 6-5, 262-pound senior, in the first-round this year.
“I never met him, but I (got to know) him from social media,” Kentucky’s Allen said. “We talked a couple times. He hit me up not too long ago. But we talked a lot. We wished each other nothing but the best. Hopefully, I get to play with him or at least play against him. And then now we’ve got a story.”
The Bills currently pick ninth, but Allen won’t likely be available by then.
Some see Allen as the top pass rusher in the draft and a top-5 pick, coming off a 17.5-sack season for Mark Stoops in 2018.
However, the Bills could look to trade up as Allen’s a good fit for Leslie Frazier’s 4-3 one-gap, attack scheme with zone-heavy coverage on the back end.
