Virginia defeated Texas Tech 85-77 in overtime last night to capture their first ever national championship.
The win didn’t come without controversy, however.
With Tech leading 73-70 in overtime, Virginia’s Kyle Guy fell to the floor and a foul was called. He nailed both free throws to make the score 73-72. The only problem…Guy actually tripped over his own teammate’s foot and no foul occurred:

Later in the overtime period, Texas Tech was on a fast break and a Virginia defender knocked the ball out of bounds. Referees decided to review the play.
After a lengthy review (which showed an obvious foul that could no longer be called), it was determined that the ball grazed the Tech player’s fingertip before going out of bounds. Virginia was awarded the ball and the national championship:

Listen Tech had its chances, and this will probably get taken down by the NCAA, but down two late in OT, this play turned the game.
This is a foul. In real speed it was a foul. In slow mo it was a foul.
