And Then There Were 2 Perfect NCAA Tournament Brackets Left

There are now 2 people in the world that have picked 40 out of 40 games in the NCAA Tournament Bracket games.

NCAA.com has the story:

Through 40 of the 63 games of the 2019 NCAA tournament, there are two perfect brackets remaining across all major online bracket games: “center road” on our Bracket Challenge Game, and “Court Stormers” on Yahoo’s.

That is now the longest streak of correct bracket picks we have ever seen, breaking our reported record of 39 games, which happened in 2017 (we explain why we’re so sure of that number below).

This is the fourth year that we’re tracking tens of millions of brackets from the largest online bracket games across the country, including our Bracket Challenge Game, ESPN, CBS, Yahoo, Fox, and Sports Illustrated to see when the last perfect bracket busts. Or, you know, if someone gets the first-ever verifiable perfect bracket. We’re counting on the former.

The first three days had their share of upsets, but these two brackets have predicted every single one of them.

For reference, the odds of predicting which side a coin lands on 40 times in a row are 1 in 1,099,511,627,776.

Recap: Out of tens of millions of brackets entered in online games, two have remained perfect through 40 games. Before this year, the best we’d ever seen was 39 games in a row. Both of the perfect brackets have the same three picks to start Sunday: Tennessee, UNC, and Duke. The first game that they disagree on is the fourth of the day: Buffalo vs. Texas Tech. Will they survive that far? We’ll be following them closely to see.

An earlier article reported there was 1 bracket left but that was ESPN only.
