Larry Vaught spoke to a bowl official who says Kentucky could actually fall to the Outback Bowl if Florida loses to Florida State Saturday.
Most people have the Wildcats projected to the Citrus Bowl with a puncher’s chance of sliding in the New Year’s Six assuming an impressive win over Louisville.
According to this official, things could slide the other direction:
“You asked me what I am hearing, and it is UK to Outback unless SEC plays four up, then Citrus,” the bowl official said.
Basically that means if Alabama, Georgia, LSU and then Florida all make the top 12 in the final college football power rankings, then those four teams all get into elite bowls. Florida is 11th going into this week’s game against Florida State and a win would keep the Gators in the top 12 of the power rankings and apparently put UK into the Citrus Bowl.
“But if Florida loses and drops out of the top 12, then I keep hearing Florida to the Citrus Bowl and UK to the Outback,” the bowl official said.
