Mark Stoops’ Next Win Could Mean the Start of a Lot More Money and Contract Extension at Kentucky

The more wins the Kentucky Football programs earn this season the more notoriety the program attains on the national stage.

Mark Stoops will also reap the benefits financially with every game that goes in the W column.

Stoops will earn a lot more money and a contract extension every win for here on out for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Here is the report from the USA Today:

Kentucky’s Mark Stoops is now set for the minimum of $50,000 he gets if the Wildcats play in a bowl game, but at 6-1 with plenty of season left, he’s in position to do much, much better:

— If the Wildcats’ win one more game, it will trigger an automatic one-year extension of his contract through June 30, 2024 that currently would be worth $5.25 million, and would be 75% guaranteed if he is fired without cause.

— In addition, beginning with the Wildcats’ seventh win of the season, he gets a $250,000 bonus for each win, including any in postseason play (the first of these bonuses would replace the $50,000 bowl bonus).

I am sure Mitch Barnhart will be more than happy to pay Mark Stoops for his success.
