Sports Illustrated has released their NBA Top 100 players and Booker is ranked #50.
Many fans are upset Booker is ranked so low but according to the writer from SI.com it sounds like his ranking took a hit because of his lack of defense.
The Kentucky product still needs to prove he’s worthy of his Drake namecheck on “Sicko Mode,” largely because he plays with pick-up game intensity on the defensive end. Phoenix has had a worse defensive rating with Booker on the court than with him off the court in each of his three seasons, and he ranked outside the NBA’s top 200 players by Real Plus-Minus in 2017-18. If he played one-on-one against himself, the game would continue for hours because he would never get a stop.
Devin didn’t do a great job of defense while he was at Kentucky and hopefully as he matures as a professional he will give more effort on the defensive end.
