According to John Calipari, Nike founder Phil Knight is not happy that Kentucky skipped this week’s PK80 event.
The PK80 was developed to celebrate Knight’s 80th birthday.
Check out Calipari’s comments via KSR:
“Phil Knight, he was not happy we’re not playing in it,” Cal said on his radio show. “He called me two days ago and said, ‘Hey, when you guys get out here, let’s go out to dinner. Oh, that’s right, you’re not playing out here.’”
What was Cal’s reasoning for not playing in the tournament?
“We did, we considered it. But this team, just think about how young this team is. We knew they’d be this young. For us right now, having home games and figuring out what we are [is more important].”
