The UK Hoops squad took down the 11th seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Sweet Sixteen match-up tonight, 79-62. In a much more dominating fashion than their second round game versus Green Bay, the threes were falling and the defense was on point.
Keyla Snowden was the star for the UK women leading the team with five 3-pointers and 17 points on the game. The other leader for the Cats was Samarie Walker who played very big bringing in 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Next on deck for the women are the number one seeded UConn Huskies, who have been a dominating force throughout the tournament in the last few years. This is not the UConn of old though; Maya Moore is not walking through that door. Even though the Huskies are still a very, very good team, the Wildcats have the opportunity to knock them off for a trip to their very first Final Four.
This is the second trip in three years to the regional final for the Wildcats. Best of luck to the ladies and here’s to them joining our men in national semi-final!!! Go UK Hoops!
