Sydney Hiance Defensive Player of the Week

For the second time this year and the sixth time in her career, Sydney Hiance has earned the SEC Defensive Player of the Week honor. After posting two shutouts this week against Evansville and South Alabama, Hiance not only was rewarded with the win’s and the honor, but also as the first Wildcat in history to be named Defensive Player of the Week 6 times.

Hiance, a native of Ft. Thomas, Ky., posted her third and fourth shutouts of the season on the week in UK’s wins over Evansville and South Alabama. Her shutout against South Alabama was the 19th of her career moving her to third place on Kentucky’s all-time shutout list, one shy of second. Hiance and the Wildcats defense have recorded three straight shutouts and have yet to allow a goal at home this season in five matches.
Hiance has a 0.63 GAA so far this season, tied for third in the SEC, and her four shutouts is tied for the second best in the league.
