The field is set for the 2018 KHSAA Class 4A Playoffs and the first round kicks off tonight.
Franklin-Simpson knocked off Johnson Central 35-21 last season to capture the 4A state championship. These two teams appears to be on a collision course to meet in Lexington again this season.
Here’s a look at the bracket:
Our thoughts:
The top half of the bracket sets up nicely for Franklin-Simpson. The Wildcats (9-1) should coast into the semifinals where they will be challenged by either Moore (9-1) or Taylor County (9-1). We think Franklin-Simpson gets it done and heads back to Kroger Field.
Johnson Central (9-1) will have to survive a rematch against Ashland (9-1) in the quarterfinal round. We are going with the Golden Eagles to represent Eastern Kentucky in the championship game.
The championship game would be the third straight time that Franklin-Simpson and Johnson Central have played for the title. The schools split the previous two title games.
Championship game: Franklin-Simpson vs. Johnson Central
