Where to Watch Kentucky at Louisville

The #23 Kentucky Wildcats (8-3) travel west on I-64 to play #3 Louisville Cardinals (11-1) in the Yum Center on CBS at 4pm.

Kentucky owns a 30-14 record in the all-time series and has won seven of the last nine against Louisville including a Final Four matchup in 2012.

Louisville leads the nation in turnover margin (+8.6). The Cards have forced an average of 21.4 turnovers a game, scoring 325 of its 937 points off turnovers (35 percent).

The Blue and White have tallied a 172-74 alltime mark against team comprising the Big East Conference. The Wildcats are 0-1 this season against member institutions after dropping a 64-50 contest at Notre Dame earlier this season. UK has faced Notre Dame and Louisville the most often in the history of the program.

Kentucky assistant coach Kenny Payne played at Louisville from 1985-89 and totaled 1,083 career points. He was a freshman on the Cardinals’ 1986 NCAA Championship team which celebrates its 25th anniversary this season. He averaged 14.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and shot 50.8 percent from the field as a senior. He had 10 points and five rebounds against UK his junior year (12/12/87) and totaled 16 points and five rebounds as a senior (12/31/88).

Kentucky is 164-68 all-time against instate teams, with most of the action coming against Georgetown College, against whom, the Cats are 35-15. However, all of those meetings came prior to 1940.

The Cardinals have enjoyed success in recent years with its first game after Christmas. Louisville has won 17 of its last 19 games played following Christmas, including 10 of the last 11 under U of L Coach Rick Pitino. All but two of
those have been UofL home games. The Cardinals dropped a 68-71 decision to Georgetown on Dec. 28, 2011 in U of L’s first game after Christmas last season.

John Calipari is 52-23 all-time against schools from the Big East. Calipari has squared off with Louisville (10-5) and Rutgers (11-4) the most often during his career.
